Four enclosed hectares, thirty in all
Around the house, four fully enclosed hectares where children can run freely. Beyond, twenty-six more hectares of woods, meadows and paths that belong to the estate alone. Not a house in sight, and no sound that does not come from the trees.
Thirty hectares is roughly forty football pitches. At that scale the idea of a neighbour disappears: you can walk for an hour without leaving the property, let a ball game run until nightfall, or dine outside without lowering your voice.
The Crempse valley, which crosses the commune from east to west, gives the landscape its water meadows and its woods of oak and pine. The walking paths start from the estate itself, with no need to take the car.
Against the old barn
The barn's stone walls block both wind and view. The terrace catches the sun for most of the day, and the shade arrives just when it is needed. The pool is private: it is shared with no one but the guests of the house.
This is where the summer days are spent, between the morning swim and the evening drink. The loungers stay where they are, the towels dry on the wall, and no one comes to claim a chair. For a large family, a private pool in the Dordogne changes the nature of the stay: there is no longer any need to plan the days around a beach or a leisure park.
A private court
The court lies away from the house, at the edge of the woods. It is reserved for guests of the estate for the whole of their stay.
A private tennis court is rare in a holiday rental in the Périgord, and it changes the rhythm of a holiday: you play early in the morning before the heat, or late in the afternoon when the shade returns. There is no booking to make, no time slot to respect, and no game to cut short because others are waiting. Do remember to bring rackets and balls.
